Not only did I get to photograph these beautiful products, I got to meet the face behind the business, see the hands that create these soaps, and even meet her family.

Laurel Creek Soaps makes tallow and goat milk soap, along with whipped soap scrubs, magnesium oil spray, and simple goods for everyday use. Amanda was such a light to meet. She shared her products with me, showed me around her farm, and shared her journey from healthcare to making products with natural ingredients.

Every bar has its own personality, so I styled each one to match its name and scent. Lavender Woods and Honey sits among dried lavender stems. Oatmeal Milk and Honey rests on a soft sage backdrop that feels calm and comforting.

Leather and Lace got a vintage lace handkerchief and a leather base. Coal Miner's Daughter, with its charcoal swirls and pink salt, sits against a dark slate background. West Virginia keeps things bright and clean on white marble so the blue and gold swirls can stand out.

Beyond the soap bars

Laurel Creek also makes companion products, so I photographed a few of those as sets. Grouping products together helps shoppers picture a gift, and it gives a maker ready-made images for bundles and holiday listings.

Why the story matters in product photos

When I know the person behind a product, I photograph it differently. I pay attention to the textures she worked into each bar, the colors she chose, and the feeling she wants people to have when they use it. That care shows up in the final images, and it helps her customers feel connected to her before they ever hold a bar of soap.
